Who are we

Hello! We Are Malcolm and Natalie McCrae! We are artists, entrepreneurs and nomads who live in our 1980 MCI bus conversion. We are passionate about living a self sustainable,  creativity driven life. Living on the road for 3 years has given us a great appreciation of having safe, quiet places to stay, and owning our own land has been such a blessing.  We are creating a small off grid homestead and sanctuary that we would love to share with others. We offer DRY camping, available for those looking for a quiet and peaceful setting as a base camp for exploring the area! Come pitch your tent, bring your rv or camper. Build a fire in the rock fire pit, gaze at the stars, listen to the birds and enjoy nature! You will likely see some wildlife like deer, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks in the mornings! In addition to camping, we also have a store with many of our handmade, one of a kind items for sale!

Three major objectives

We are located off of I-57 in Southern Illinois, in the sleepy town of Tamms, just off the Great River Road, Grapevine Trail and 15 miles from Cape Girardeau, MO. Geographically, we are close to 3 major highways (I-57, I-24, I-55) and 4 different neighboring states! (Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas). We are nestled next to Shawnee National Forest which offers hundreds of miles of hiking, caves, waterfalls, and natural wonders within an hours drive. Ferne Clyffe, Giant City Park, Little Grand Canyon, and Garden of the Gods lie within the Shawnee.. The Southern Illinois Wine Trail is also a highlight, along with many other natural and historical points of interest! During fall and winter, large populations of waterfowl and bald eagles are seen at nearby Horseshoe Lake and other conservation areas. With all the beautiful views and recreational activities to choose from, you may wish to stay a few days to experience them all!
