The Artist Malcolm (Airbrush Assassin) McCrae
As a self-taught artist Malcolm acknowledges how difficult it was for him to gain the skills required to be a successful urban artist as well as the knowledge needed to develop and grow a thriving business. This lack of books and instructional materials had a long-lasting impact on Malcolm. From that time on McCrae says, “I made a conscious commitment to myself to create resources that would help instruct and inspire the next generation of artists”.
In spite of the lack of resources, Malcolm was determined to follow his dreams, and at an early age he began working out of his basement, on street corners, in a music store, and eventually had his own shop making a six-figure income. He used his skills to earn money for his family and to stay out of trouble.
Malcolm travels around the world inspiring people through art. Malcolm’s artwork has been exhibited at galleries, festivals, and fundraisers. He has toured with the African American Contemporary Art Exhibits. He describes his work as “Urban Fusion”; the fusion of life experiences, passion and creativity.
