Beyond The Metal Box

Artist Malcolm McCrae with Mayor Dwain Hahs of Jackson Missouri

Artist, Malcolm McCrae, will be painting in a live airbrush performance, a beautiful interpretation of Missouri Dogwood, the “City Tree” of Jackson, on a metal utility box. This event is part of the “Beyond the Metal Box Project” of the Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization. This ongoing project was designed to transform common utility boxes into distinctive works of arts to have a more vibrant and attractive Uptown landscape. McCrae is an accomplished painter, public speaker and author. He is known for his workshops on air brush painting and how to create a successful career in fine arts for adults and young people. McCrae is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and currently has his studio in the region with his wife, Jackson native, Natalie Sharp McCrae. This project was made possible by a partnership between: Malcolm McCrae, The Cape Girardeau County Historical Society, the Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization, CL Jordan Preservation, The City of Jackson, and The Missouri Arts Council. During this event, the Cape Girardeau County Historical Society will host an exhibition of McCrae’s art prints and other works at the Cape County History Center on November 11 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at 102 South High Street in Jackson.
